Inspiration: Gypsy Goddess on page 45 of the January/February 2016 issue of Nail It!
Products: Julep Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat, Madam Glam Text Me Later, Pipe Dream Mas Fina, Art Club Nail Art Duo Silver Glitter
Thoughts: When doing negative space art, I like to start with a good base coat so the nail peaking through can look its best. Oxygen is matte, but a good top coat will take care of that. The tutorial called for a third silver line between the other two, but a.) I did not leave enough room and b.) the silver was not dark enough to really pop anyway.
Inspiration: Blue Moon on page 44 of the January/February 2016 issue of Nail It!
Products: Julep Shelby, Sanaa, Kris, and Harley
Thoughts: This tutorial showed a technique for filling in the moon - place three dots and then connect them to form the outer line as a guide for where to fill in. I tried this and it is a good technique, but the glitter in Kris was not cooperating, so I had to free hand. For the accent nail, I used the hole reinforcement method since I decided to do Sanaa on top of Harley since it was glittery (but smaller glitter than Kris).
Inspiration: Hint of Cheetah on page 45 of the January/February 2016 issue of Nail It!
Products: CoverGirl Star Wars Limited Edition Outlast Speed of Light, Sally Hansen Satin Glam Silk Onyx
Thoughts: This tutorial was listed as beginner, but cheetah spots are very difficult for me. Luckily, I have a stamper that does them perfectly. I opted for a sparkly charcoal instead of solid black to soften the look.
This month, all Mavens received Julep (polish name) in their September Julep box (clicking will take you through my referral link). I still went with my normal Modern Beauty, which got me Length Matters Mascara (which I already had - oops) and Light on Your Lips in Last Call (my choice).
Inspiration: August 2015 Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery BagProducts: Rainbow Honey Jelly Red Sandals and Mr. Saturn
Thoughts: This red was just begging to be put on my toes. I was not sure what to do with Mr. Saturn, so I decided to try it as the base for a french tip on my big toes. What else came in my Mystery Bag? Fruit Juice Perfume Oil Rollerball, Bath Oil, and Bath Tea.
Inspiration: July 2015 Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery BagProducts: Rainbow Honey Calama, Costa Dorada, and Summer Tan
Thoughts: I love the colors that were in the July Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery Bag, but it took me almost two months to actually wear them. This green is amazing and looks great next to the more gold colors. What else came in my Mystery Bag? Pomelo Body Splash, Sweet Mandarin Lip Scrub, and Shea Butter Skin Treatment.
It's only been a few months since I received nail polish in my Ipsy bag (clicking will take you through my referral link), so I was surprised to get some again. Trust Fund Beauty Elegantly Wasted is a fun lavender, came in a nice box, and was generously sized for not being full-sizes.
What other goodies did I get? Marc Anthony Nourishing Argon Oil of Morocco Treatment, Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Eye/Lip Pencil in Wine, Marsk Pro Line Eye Shadow Brush, and noyah Natural Lipstick in Desert Rose.
